Hounslow Wanderers kicked-off their first ever game in the County’s premier division with a convincing win against Stonewall FC at their new home of Rosedale College. Having won promotion from Division One (West) last season the purple haze were looking to start off with three points to send a message to their rivals.
The game couldn’t have started worse when a lapse in defence gave the World and Olympic gay champions Stonewall a gift of a goal after only two minutes. But Wanderers played some great football and could have scored at least three before a Jas Sangha header rebounded off the crossbar for Robert Howard to slot home the equaliser. The Purple Haze pressed on and scored a second before halftime when Sangha left the Stonewall keeper stranded to make it 2-1.
During the second half Wanderers dominated play but midway through the half Stonewall equalised with a neat move. This led to an onslaught on by the Purple Haze with goals from Mike Wilkinson and Jas Sangha securing the points.
It was a great day for the Hounslow side and manager Vip Mair summed it up by saying that “we played some good football today and I hope with can build on this platform in the coming weeks”.
The Purple Haze are away to Willesden Constantine next Saturday where they hope to continue their excellent start to the season.

Hounslow Wanderers maintained their 100% start to the new season with a 2-0 victory away to a strong Willesden Constantine team which included a number of new signings from last years Premier Division runners-up Hayes United.
The purple haze had the majority of chances in the first half with both Ricky Casse and Jas Sangha seeing their efforts hit the crossbar. In flashes Willesden played some good football but lacked any real threat to the Wanderers goal.
Within four minutes of the second half the deadlock was broken by an 18 yard volley from Rob Howard. The goal sparked Willesden into life and as time went on their urgency to equalise became greater. Wanderers had two penalty appeals turned down before Jas Sangha scored Wanderers second and deciding goal in the 75th minute.
Wanderers assistant manager Saj Panesar summed up the result by saying “It was vital that we kept the momentum going and we are pleased to see the team adjusting to life in the Premier Division”.
Wanderers next league match is a home fixture on 12th September against Spanish exiles FC Deportivo Galicia where the Purple Haze will be looking to extend their unbeaten run.

Hounslow Wanderers gave a stunning first half display to continue their 100% start to the new season mainly thanks to three goals in 20 minutes by hat trick hero Wayne Harvey.
Having only played a in a cameo appearance in the Purple Haze’s 4-2 victory over Stonewall on match day one, Harvey was given a starting berth by manager Vip Mair and he duly repaid the gaffers faith.
Wanderers started the stronger and went 1-0 up after 15 minutes through a stunning 20 yard free kick by Robbie Stiles. Not allowing the Spanish exiles any chance to settle Harvey slammed in three goals in a twenty minute spell before Stiles helped himself to a second minutes before the interval.
Wanderers had most of the possession in the second half but conceded late on in what at times felt like a training exercise.
Wanderers assistant coach Thomas Thomas was delighted with the first half display and said “Deportivo are an established Club in the Premier Division and had the boys not put in the effort they did early on the result could have been different. All in all it was another game to learn from as we adjust to life in this division”.
Wanderers will now focus on the Cup as they take on London Irish, at home, in the Middlesex County Football League Cup next Saturday 19th September 2009.

Hounslow Wanderers travelled to World and Olympic World Gay Champions Stonewall and extended their unbeaten start to life in the Middlesex County Premier Division.
Having already played each other on the first day of the season the fixture was always going to be a difficult one. Wanderers boss Vip Mair was left with a section headache with six players missing due to various reasons and his selection was full of surprises.
Stonewall started the game with a high tempo but found the Purple Haze’s defence far too strong for them. Wanderers took the lead on 17 minutes when Jas Sangha lobbed the stranded Stonewall goalkeeper. The Purple Haze should have doubled their lead on a number of occasions but most notably when Edson Descastro’s shot resulted in a great save by the Stonewall keeper.
As the game went on the opposition’s threat on the Wanderers goal was limited and indeed the clearer cut changes feel to the Purple Haze’s front line.
Wanderers boss Vip Mair said that “Although the scoreline didn’t reflect the performance the effort put in by the team today was faultless. I was extremely delighted to keep another clean sheet away from home.”
Wanderers next league match is a home fixture on against Vallance from East London on 3rd October 2009.

Hounslow Wanderers continue their impressive form with their fifth consecutive win in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Football League v East London side Vallance. This now places the newly promoted side to the heady heights of third place having won all 5 opening games.
Wanderers started slowly and it was the young Vallance team that responded better in the early exchanges. Both teams failed to finish off any chances that they created and the half-time whistle blew with the game still goalless.
In the Second-half, Wanderers seemed to turn on the heat and the deadlock was broken early on with Wanderers Captain Jas Sangha crossing in for Mike Wilkinson to head in. The Purple Haze extended their lead after some decisive interchanging play between substitute Thomas John and Wayne Harvey for the latter to finish off in emphatic style.
The game was still not finished as Vallance still provided a goal threat so a further goal was required. This was dually obliged by Rickey Casse who headed in from Man of the Match Spencer Mitchell’s free-kick. Vallance kept plugging away and got a consolation for their efforts to make the final score of 3-1.
Wanderers Manager quoted after the game “A few words were said at Half-time and the team responded magnificently after the break”

Hounslow Wanderers boss Vip Mair was left ecstatic after the Purple Haze beat Hellenic League side Rayners Lane Reserves 3-2 in the Middlesex FA Intermediate Cup to continue their 100% win record this season.
The Purple Haze boss said “It was a very tactical game against a very impressive outfit but this shows how far the boys have developed.”
Home team Rayners Lane Reserves started cautiously with the main highlights being two impressive saves from either keeper as both teams went into half-time 0-0.
Rayners Lane Reserves open their account after a poor pass allowed the home team to score. Wanderers equalised within minutes when Rickey Casse intercepted another poor pass to run through and round the keeper to slot home. The Purple Haze went ahead after the keeper could only parry a vicious free-kick from the impressive Dalvir Sidhu.
The Harrow-based club then began to step up their game and show that they weren’t here to make up the numbers as they equalised with a thunderous 25 yard drive. With ten minutes of normal time left Jas Sangha popped up to head the winner from a corner leaving the Hellenic Side dumb-struck.
The Purple Haze will resume normal league duties as they travel to fellow Premier League newcomers Singh Sabha Slough FC on Saturday 19th October.

Hounslow Wanderers made up for their injury time league defeat to Singh Sabha Slough seven days earlier and booked themselves a quarter final tie with Marsh Rangers.
The Purple Haze were quick off the blocks to avenge for a 93rd minute Singh Sabha winner by forcing the play in the early stages. After 4 minutes a neat passing move lead to Harmeet Dhaliwal providing the easiest of chances for the advancingWayne Harvey to make it 1-0.
The Purple Haze continued to pile on the pressure and broke through for a second on 15 minutes when the impressive Rickey Casse provided a clinical ball to the unmarked Mike Wilkinson to make it 2-0. As half-time approached Wanderers squandered a number of changes to put the tie out of reach.
Singh Sabha started the second half as they ended the first, totally disjointed and with no real game plan. But credit to the Slough side as they continued to try and midway through the second half reduced the deficit with a decent effort which on most days would have been a bread and butter save for Wanderers keeper Greg Egdhill. Wanderers’ number one was again in the spotlight when a clear foul was not spotted by the match officials and allowed Singh Sabha to equalise. As the match looked like heading for extra time Vip Mair made tactical change which paid dividends and within minutes Harmeet Dhaliwal provided a well balanced pass for Wayne Harvey to hammer home a 20 yard screamer with only five minutes left to play.
Match referee Robert Was commented “This was a well contested match and both teams deserve credit for their behaviour. Please pass on my thanks to both teams for an occasion we, as officials, were pleased to be part of”. The Purple Haze will be back to league action next week taking on North Kensington in their next fixture. They will be looking to make up for losing out to them in the last game of last season for the Division One Championship

Wanderers produced a Halloween horror show of their own against North Kensington on Saturday. Having lost out to a defeated own goal in last seasons Division One Championship decider the Purple Haze were looking for revenge.
It all started so well for the depleted Wanderers squad, who had only one recognised defender playing in his preferred position. Captain Jas Sangha opened the scoring early on when Wayne Harvey rounded the flat footed North Kensington keeper to leave Sangha with a simple tap-in. Minutes later Sangha leaped above his defender to head home a second with only twelve minutes on the clock. Sangha completed his hat-trick on 17 minutes from a corner and with the score at 3-0 it looked as though Wanderers had secured the points.
With Rob Howard creating problems for the North Kensington defence and the referee offering no support it was only a matter of time that the intimidating side of North Kensington showed up. On a different day a stronger referee would have dealt with the situations in the manner that they should have been. Instead a constant barge of cynical challenges and verbal abuse at both players and match officials followed and continued for the remainder of the match. Howard’s departure allowed for 16 year old Taylor Rowlands to make his first team league debut.
North Kensington’s recovery started and by half time had reduced the deficit to 3-2 with a neat passing move for the first a huge slice of luck for the second.
On the 55th minute Sangha pounced on a cross to make it 4-2 to the purple haze. But North Kensington continued to play their neat football combined with some real x-rated tackles it was only a matter of time before the third and forth goal were conceded.
Wanderers again pressed forward and two fairly clear penalty appeals were turned down before a deflected shot minutes for full-time sent the away side home with the three points.
The Purple Haze now travel to Bethnal Green for another tough league fixture next Saturday.

After a two week break the purple haze returned to competitive football in this second round cup tie against a very strong Park View side. Last season Park View led the Premier Division with a handful of games to play before being expelled from the league to disciplinary reasons.
For yet another week the management’s hand were tied with key personnel yet again being unavailable for selection. The missing included Spencer Mitchell, Rickey Casse, Tyrone Godwyn, Guv Degun, Robert Howard, Wayne Harvey and the injured Dalvir Sidhu, Raman Kaplish and Jat Birdi to name but a few. So it was with some relief that Vip Mair welcomed back both Ren Sidhu and Edson Decastro from long term injuries.
The game started positively with both sides playing some good possession football. Park View pounced onto to a lapse in defence to make it 0-1 early on. Minutes later Wanderers had a great chance to level the scores when Sidhu was manhandled in the penalty area. Unfortunately the usual reliable Sangha failed to capitalise on the opportunity. Wanderers continued to press and had a goal bound shot blocked, before a pinpoint cross from the impressive Harmeet Dhaliwal was headed home by Mike Wilkinson only for the referee to award a free kick for a foul on the Park View goalkeeper who himself looked a little confused with the match officials decision. It seemed to be one of those days and it was no surprise when Park View scored minutes from half time to double their lead.
With Wilkinson having to leave the pitch at halftime Decastro returned to first team action but it was Park View who put the tie beyond doubt by tucking home a third. Wanderers continued to put their opposition under pressure and Sangha nodded home from Decastro’s cross to make it 1-3. Sidhu then smashed home what looked like a perfectly decent goal only to be awarded off-side by the referee even though the linesman never flagged the alleged infringement. With nothing to lose the purple haze continued to press but with no options available to the management from a non existent bench it was only a matter of time before Park View sealed the tie.
After the game manager Vip Mair reflected on the game and went on to say that “I can not fault the effort put in by the team today, on a different day had things gone our way with some decisions we could have pulled off a win with a very much depleted squad. I feel some of the boys who were not here today have let their team mates down, they know who they are and rest assured my team selections over the next few games will reflect this”.

Wanderers returned to league football against a strong Sloane side. Following last week’s result the team selection had a few surprises and Vip Mair was looking for a positive reaction from his players.
Premier Division debuts were handed out to Alan Fyfe, Guv Degun and later to 16 year old Mani Bariah. The Purple Haze began strong although the first twenty minutes were evenly matched. Sloane took the lead through a fortuitous shot which hit the post and trickled in. This gave the home side some momentum but they were unable to capitalise on this and the half ended 1-0.
The home side went two goals up early on in the second half through a half volley from skipper Reece Crisp. But with time on their side the purple haze began to take control of the game and were denied two penalty appeals against the ever impressive Rickey Casse and Jas Sangha. The two combined on 70 minutes resulting in Sangha turning and shooting home to give the purple haze some hope.
Wayne Harvey was sent on to put more pressure on the opposition. With time running out it looked as though Sloane had held on for the three points but Wanderers Manager Vip Mair sent on another forward in Taylor Rowlands as a last gasp attempt to salvage a point.
With only two minutes left Alan Fyfe’s pinpoint cross was headed goal ward by Sangha leaving an easy tap-in for Wayne Harvey to equalise.
Capitan Sangha later said “It was vital we got something out of today’s game. The lads showed character, especially as some of them were making their debuts today”.

Wanderers came from behind twice to advance in a pulsating cup tie against an experienced Singh Sabha side. The Purple Haze had already knocked their opponents out of the Divisional Cup earlier this season, ironically by a 3-2 score line, and right from the off Sabha were looking for revenge.
Vip Mair returned after a week’s absence and gave 16 year old Soprat Paksammy a first team debut after some impressive displays for the reserves. The team still had a young look to it with many senior players still missing. Sabha opened the deadlock on 20 minutes when a neat passing move left a one on one, which was sweetly put away.
The purple haze continued playing their passing game which was putting the Sabha defence under constant pressure. On 30 minutes a Wanderers corner was only part cleared leaving Michael Stark with a 20 yard pile driver into the top corner to level the scores.
The second half started as the first ended but with a dipping sun, an up and under cross landed between Robbie Stiles and Greg Edghill for a simple tap-in to make it 1-2 to the visitors. Wanderers continued to press for the equallier and in the 76th minute Ricky Casse curled home from 25 yards out to make it 2-2. With Wanderers sensing a win Ren Sidhu came on for Guv Degun.
Sabha began to tyre and a number of chances came the way of the purple haze to finish the game off in normal time. With Wanderers finishing the stronger the game went into extra time.
Jas Sangha had a glorious chance to give the Wanderers the lead; having done the difficult part his shot hit the inside of the post. With one way traffic it was only a matter of time. Soprat Paksammy found Jas Sangha in space to swing in a cross that Ren Sidhu headed home for the winner and progress to a home tie against division one leaders Steadfast.

Wanderers signed off 2009 with a win against local rivals Indian Gymkhana. League leaders Gymkhana came into the game 5 points clear of the Purple Haze having played two extra games. With all other fixtures called off Wanderers all weather pitch played host to a bumper crowd and they were entertained to an enjoyable local derby.
With Wanderers still missing eight first team squad members a youthful looking team was sent out against a full strength Gymkhana side. Vip Mair’s selection included starts for both Taylor Rowlands and Soprat Paksamay who only six months ago were playing youth league football.
The first quarter of the game was evenly matched before Gymkhana opened the scoring to make it 0-1 to the visitors. Wanderers pressed on and created a couple of decent chances which fell to Thomas John and Taylor Rowlands, who both were unable to convert. On the 35th minutes Soprat Paksamay went passed the Gymkhana left-back crossed for Rowlands to score his first goal for the club. As the game moved towards half-time Gymkhana missed a guilt edge chance to re-gain the lead.
As the second half started Gymkhana seemed to lose their shape and it was only a matter of time before Wanderers took the lead. This came after yet another free kick given away by the visitors. Ricky Casse stepped up to place the ball over the stranded Gymkhana keeper to make it 2-1 on 60 minutes.
With Gymkhana running out of ideas Rowlands linked up with Paksamay, who calmly went round the Gymkhana keeper to score his first goal for the purple haze on 66 minutes. In all essence the game was over but there was time for the Gymkhana manager Nilesh Gosia to be shown the red card and sent to the stands for his moment of madness brought on by a frustrating afternoon. Late on Ricky Casse missed a penalty and the game finished 3-1 to the Purple Haze, leaving them two points behind the leaders.
Wanderers Manager Vip Mair summed up his teams achievements for the calendar year “2009 will live long in the memory of all associated with this club. We achieved promotion and have built a strong platform to build upon in this division. During the calendar year we have played a total of 21 league games, won 14, drew four and lost only three. We’ve scored 55 goals and only conceded 26; picking up 46 points along the way, I am very proud of my boy’s achievements”.

Hounslow Wanderers returned to league action against divisional strugglers Kodak (Harrow). Vip Mair made only one change from the purple haze’s last game, Spencer Mitchell replaced Taylor Rowlands in the starting eleven.
Having won the toss Kodak attacked downhill on a very sloppy pitch looking to take an early advantage but it was the younger wanderers team that started to dictate the play. A number of clear cut chances were squandered by Hounslow’s wasteful frontline before on 17 minutes Spencer Mitchell’s mazy run ended with him cutting in at an acute angle a shooting past the Kodak keeper to make it 0-1. Kodak responded strongly and it needed Wanderers keeper Greg Edghill to hold his nerve in a one on one situation to keep the purple haze ahead. Wanderers doubled their lead four minutes before the half time break. Soprat Paksammy’s cross was handled in the area by a Kodak defender leaving the match official no choice but to award a penalty, Ricky Casse converting with ease.
The purple haze began the seconded half strongly with fairly easy opportunities falling to Sangha, John and Paksammy but these chances were squandered. As the half went on Kodak became more frustrated and it came as no surprise that a late tackle from behind by Kodak striker Lee Worley led to a straight red card. The advantage only lasted 7 minutes as Sangha received his second yellow card so the remaining 25 minutes became a ten a-side affair. Mike Wilkinson completed the scoring on 75 minutes by the hapless Kodak keeper to make it 0-3.
The Purple Haze next game is an intriguing fixture away to Marsh Rangers in the quarter final of the MCFL Premier Cup. With both teams level on points in the league this game will be hotly contested by the ground sharing clubs.

Two first half goals from Marsh Rangers’ Alex Henderson proved to be the difference as the purple haze crashed out of an exciting encounter as this match defined the cliché that football is ‘a game of two halves’.
Marsh took the lead after 17 minutes when some sloppy marking allowed Henderson in to easily slot passed the hapless wanderers keeper Greg Edghill. Henderson then went on to double his tally 10 minutes later with a neat chip. Both sides had changes but the home side went in at half to a flattering scoreline.
A few harsh words were spoken at halftime by manager Vip Mair and this seemed to wake up the players. The second half seemed to be played almost exclusively in the Marsh half with the purple haze playing with a sense of urgency and at times leaving their ground sharing opposition a little bemused with some intricate passing.
Second half substitute Spencer Mitchell had an early shot saved by Marsh keeper Adam Casey and it wasn’t long before Casey made the save of the match parrying Jas Sangha’s volley onto the post and away from danger.
Marsh had now resorted to playing a counter attacking game but any opportunities were quickly sniffed out by defensive duo Paul Malone and Nathan Best. Vip Mair’s intent was clear when midway through the second half he brought on attacking duo Wayne Harvey (after an injury lay-off) and minutes later followed by Ren Sidhu.
The two linked up well when Sangha’s cross on 75 minutes landed at the feet of Harvey whose shot has parried by Casey leaving Sidhu a simple tap-in with his first touch of the game to make it 2-1.
Wanderers had a number of opportunities to draw level but with time running out Marsh held on to advance to a semi final encounter with Hayes Gate.
A disappointed Wanderers manager Vip Mair said “I think the players know they let themselves down today, the first half performance wasn’t of the standard we all expect from each other, especially when we are playing against another top five team from our division. I will be looking for a positive reaction in our match against Vallance on next week”.

Matthew Woods scored twice to inflict their second giant killing scalp of their cup run. The Division One outfit had already knocked out Premier Division leaders Hayes Gate out of the cup and now added Hounslow Wanderers to their list.
Wanderers goalkeeper Greg Edghill kept Stedfast and in particular Woods at bay in the first half with some unbelievable saves. The visitors played with a sense of urgency whilst Hounslow lacked their usual passion.
The second half began with the purple haze getting more into the game and finally calling the Stedfast goalkeeper into action. On 57 minutes Woods cut into the area and hit a low shot into the back of the net to make it 0-1. Wanderers response was almost instant with Wayne Harvey heading home three minutes later to equalise. With 15 minutes remaining an almost identical run and shot from Woods made it 1-2 to the first division team. Harvey had a late header kicked off the line and Stedfast advanced into the next round.
Wanderers will now focus on the league, a fixture pile-up means that the purple haze will play Marsh Rangers who are joint third place in the premier division this Tuesday night (16th February, 19:30 kick-off).Vip Mair

Captain Jas Sangha’s brace was enough to see off a valiant performance divisional strugglers Vallance. A depleted squad left the management team with only 12 available players from a squad of 24 which included Raman Kaplish returning to the first team line up.
The purple haze squandered a number of changes in the first half including opportunities falling to Soprat Paksammy and Jas Sangha. The nearest Wanderers came to breaking the deadlock was when Robbie Stiles header hit the crossbar.
Within a minute of the second half some excellent interplay between Paksammy and Sangha that left the Wanderers captain a calmly placed chip over the hapless Vallance keeper. Further chances came, most notably to Harmeet Dhaliwal who spooned his shot over from six yards out. Vallance’s only opportunity came midway through the second half when a speculative shot from 20 yards out hit the post. This sparked Wanderers into life and the game was put out of reach when a goalkeeping error allowed Sangha a simple tap in to secure the three points.

The Purple Haze should have taken the lead after 20 minutes when a tackle from behind on Jas Sangha should have resulted in a clear penalty. However everyone apart from the referee could not believe the decision she made. Wayne Harvey should have converted a one on one opportunity on 35 minutes but hit a very tame shot which the Sloane keeper didn’t even need to save.
The second half began with the team’s level but after on five minutes a speculative shot was parried by Wanderers keeper Greg Edghill only for a simple tap-in from the approaching Sloane forward. Five minutes later the referee gifted a second goal for Sloane, with no where to go the Sloane forward ran into the wanderers defender Paul Malone. From the resulting free kick a Sloane scored a dubious ‘off side’ goal. The third followed minutes later when the match official failed to see a Sloane player holding and blocking the wanderers keeper for a simple catch which was duly hit home to seal the points for the away team.
The match official still had time to send off second half substitute Rob Howard which even the opposition couldn’t understand what for. All in all a very bad day at the office, one which is best forgotten quickly!

After last weeks surprising defeat the Hounslow boys were eager to get back to winning ways however were not going to find this easy as they were missing a few key individuals.
The game started with Hounslow dominating the possession and Southall doing their best to counter attack but not to much avail. Despite Hounslow’s possession some choice chances went begging with Hounslow failing to execute leaving those on the bench wondering whether it was going to be one of those days. Midway into the first half Southall’s centre forwarded added to Hounslow’s frustration by latching onto a through ball and despite stumbling managed to convert his first real chance.
To Hounslow’s credit they kept their heads held high, despite going into the changing rooms at half time 1-0 down they continued to plug away knowing that more chances will surely come their way in the second half.
The second half looked promising with more chances coming to both teams. Southall’s last minute replacement keeper was keeping his side in the lead until the constant pressure finally paid off. A superb 40 yard cross from the purple haze’s Spencer Mitchell found Michael Starks on the edge of Southall’s area with quite a bit left to do, unfazed ‘Starksy’ volleyed the ball into the top corner of the goal with a perfect technique that any footballer would be proud of.
This sparked further confidence within the Wanderers camp and the winner wasn’t far away. Nathan Best taking advantage of a crowded area, bravely headed the ball home to score his first competitive goal for the club.
Wanderers will now take on ground sharing rivals Marsh Rangers in a must win match to keep them in the hunt for a top four finish.

The Purple Haze were left to rue missed chances as groundsharing Marsh Rangers converted an 89th minute penalty for a share of the points in this Easter weekend clash.
Hounslow welcomed back captain Jas Sangha and Ricky Casse to the staring line up after last week’s win against Southall. The Purple Haze dominated the entire game and were unlucky not to take the lead in the first half following two goal mouth scrambles saved Rangers blushes.
The second half started with Wanderers dominating the play. On 50 minutes Sangha found himself in a one on one with the Marsh keeper in what should have been an easy opening goal. Instead the Wanderers captain seemed to be in two minds as to the best way to convert and ended up missing the best chance of the game. Ten minutes later substitute Wayne Harvey rounded the Marsh keeper and decided to shoot from an acute angle when a lay back would have led to a simple tap-in. Still 0-0.
In the 80th minute Harvey went on a run and this time made the right decision and crossed to an unmarked Guv Degun (who had only been on the filed for two minutes) who calmly passed the ball into the net. This should have been game, set and match to the Hounslow boys but Marsh had the last say when they were given a lifeline by referee Mark Sellers who from half-way line awarded a penalty eventhough his assistant hadn’t seen an infringement! Marsh duly converted and the points were shared.
Wanderers will now travel to Wembley next week to play an in-form Copland team hoping to gain revenge for their loss in the home fixture last month.

The last time these two teams met the game went down to the wire with Copland edging the victory. With this game still in the minds of both teams and Wembley stadium in the background hosting the FA Cup semi final, all present were in for an interesting 90 minutes.
The Sun beating down onto the pitch only made the poor condition of the playing surface even more obvious. The uneven hard ground combined with the overgrown grass meant that passing football was going to be very hard if not impossible, unfortunate as in this league one expects a higher standard of football to be assisted by a higher standard of pitch.
The game started with Wanderers threatening Copland within the first 5 minutes, Mike Wilkinson's header forcing one clearance of the line and another one of his shots being stopped by the keeper. However revenge for the previous loss at home for wanderers was not in the bag as of yet as Copland remained unshaken, giving the Hounslow boys a few worrying moments themselves.
The first half ended goalless and apart from a few choice tackles flying in from both teams fairly uneventful.
This was not to be the case for the second half. Copland came out flying and seemed to of caught the Wanderers camp unawares as a scrappy goal from Berty Williams was converted after 48 minutes, 1-0 Copland. This lit a fire within the Wanderers contingency and it has to be said they dominated the rest of the game with countless free kicks and corners frustrating the Copland defence to the point of one of their defenders being sent off (again) for kicking out at Hounslow’s captain Jas Sangha. What was uncalled for was the consistent unwarranted and unsporting verbal conduct from the Copland bench.
Hounslow kept throwing everything forward with the gaffer making some attacking substitutions with Paksammy nearly volleying home with seconds remaining. However it was not to be their day, a lucky victory for Copland in a game where Hounslow probably deserved a draw at the very least.
